The Flatbush Boys Basketball coaching staff took advantage of a unique opportunity on Monday night (3/11), as the JV Boys Basketball team opened a week of play in the 2019 Emunah/Rubenstein JV Boys Basketball Tournament, mixing together the Falcon 9th and 8th Grade basketball players to represent Flatbush in the event. The team dropped the tournament opener to the SAR Sting, 51-36, at the Falcons Nest in Brooklyn, NY, but the group will play two more times in preliminary round contests before all the teams gather on “Playoff Sunday” at SAR and it will serve to give the coaches and the players ample time to see what the future holds for Flatbush Basketball.

The Flatbush Girls Varsity Basketball Team had a meaningful Saturday (3/2) morning and afternoon in Shabbat activities with their fellow RASG Shabbaton participants, then completed tournament play on the court where a late 4th Quarter rally fell short as the Falcons season came to a close in a loss to the Goldie Margolin School for Girls Maccabees (Memphis, TN), 44-34, at the Miami Beach JCC finishing the RASG Hebrew Academy Tournament in 8th Place overall, but departing Miami Beach having forged strong bonds with teammates and fellow tournament participants that will surely last a lifetime!

What makes her different is not that she is a world-class runner, nor that she is a mother of five, nor that she is Israeli, and nor that she is a Torah-Observant Modern Orthodox Jew. What makes her different is that she is ALL of these things, and more! She is an inspiration, and she joined the students to share her experience and some life lessons she has herself learned during her journey to prominence on a very public stage.
