Educational Technology

VISION FOR TECHNOLOGY

We envision using technology to further the Yeshivah of Flatbush learning community where:
  • Students are engaged in a challenging technology integrated curriculum that is focused on blended learning, models of technology integration, inquiry-based, and hands-on learning.
  • Teachers utilize technology to support teaching and learning across the curriculums –Torah Studies and General Studies. Teachers function as coaches, mentors, advocates, and managers of information. Teachers receive ongoing professional development and apply their new learning in classroom instruction.
  • Administrative functions, including those performed by instructional staff, are fully automated, thereby allowing more of the school system's energy and resources to be focused on student education and student achievement gains.

EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY INITIATIVE

To move forward vigorously to integrate technology into PreK-12 curriculum, Torah studies, instructional methodologies, and professional development to drive and expand the scope, quality, and richness of teaching, learning to impact student achievement with measurable data. Yeshivah of Flatbush expands 1:1 Chromebook Initiative.

EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

During July and August, the Yeshivah of Flatbush Informational & Instructional Technology Department completed the second annual 2018-19 Teaching & Technology Summer Institute for YOF Teachers, Office Staff and Administrators! We carefully designed the professional development sessions to include time to learn, share, collaborate and integrate technology as well as time in the sessions for hands-on learning. In addition, topics of the TPACK Model, Differentiation, Formative Assessment, and Collaborative Learning were part of sessions.

The theme for the 2018 Teaching & Technology Summer Institute was; Collaboration, Unity and Sharing through Technology! Research shows that educational experiences that are active, social, contextual, engaging, and student-owned, lead to deeper learning.

Our training sessions included technology tools and methods for teachers to tap into their own passion for education and for their subject matter, they can capture the students' imaginations and evoke a sense of excitement to inspire students to question, discover and anticipate the future with an exhilarating sense of potential.

Summer Professional Development 2022

The 2022 summer we presented to you our 5th Annual Yeshivah of Flatbush Teaching & Technology Summer Institute. This year we are excited again to extend a warm invitation to more teachers and administrators from Orthodox Jewish day schools across the United States.  Our seasoned educators are all certified Google trainers, and many have presented nationally.

This year's theme comes from noted educator and researcher Michael Fullen,

“Pedagogy is the Driver, Technology is the Accelerator.”

In other words, models of teaching and data driven instruction in the classroom first and then how a teacher facilitates the integration of technology to enhance and expand academic outcomes for students.

Our research-based model of professional development (TPACK) is unique in the sense that participants walk out (or log out) of our sessions not only with knowledge of their newly acquired skills and pedagogy, but with the confidence to integrate and apply that model of instruction or technology immediately into their classrooms.  It goes without saying that students can use technology, but it takes pedagogical savviness and expertise on a teacher’s part to accelerate achievement through integrated technology.

Join us in collaboration with other Jewish day school professionals and PRIZMAH and participate in our online model of professional development.
