Junior College Kickoff Recap
Did you miss our Kickoff program on December 8th? Click here to view a recording.
Our goal for the evening was to start your college search and application cycle by reintroducing ourselves and shedding light on fundamental components of the college process and considerations for your college research, planning, and execution. We want this time to be enlightening and fun, and we are confident it will be if students engage in school and with us. Our team will support each student through making college lists, writing essays, completing applications, connecting to resources, and more. We will also keep you informed on news and developments relevant to the process, such as standardized testing updates.

Please give us your feedback on Junior College Kickoff by completing the evaluation here.

As we begin, we encourage you to:

**Not sure who your college counselor is? You received an email from him or her on December 8. Contact Mrs. Kuznicki at [email protected] if you need assistance connecting with your counselor.
The Questionnaires
Students: Please complete this questionnaire before scheduling your first meeting with your college guidance counselor. Fill it out carefully, thoughtfully, and in its entirety. First meetings for juniors will begin when you complete your questionnaire, and you and your advisor agree on a meeting time.
Parents: The Parent Questionnaire is a great way to share your insights into your son or daughter. We also encourage you to share any hopes, expectations, parameters, or concerns. We hope you will complete the questionnaire and join us for a meeting later in the year.
Standardized Testing and Preparation
We realize there are still many unknowns in the testing landscape. Some students might be unable to take ACTs or SATs, and many may choose not to take standardized tests. However, we are still awaiting updates from many colleges on their testing policies. Therefore, we want to provide you with information and resources to explore these exams.
An Offer from Princeton Review
Although we are not hosting an in-person SAT or ACT Prep course through Princeton Review this year, a discount is still available for any of their courses or offerings. Click here for more information and registration at a special rate. Use the promotion code: YESHFLAT25% for Flatbush pricing (25% off). Princeton Review is also offering a 10% discount on private tutoring. Use promo code: BROYESHFLAT10
SAT and Khan Academy
Did you know that the College Board offers free SAT prep through Khan Academy? We strongly recommend linking it to your College Board account if you haven’t already. This is a constructive first step on your test preparation journey.
Free ACT Resources
ACT also provides a free study guide and practice test online. Click here for more information and offerings.
Additional Test Prep
Several organizations offer practice ACT and SAT diagnostic tests. While we do not endorse any particular test prep company or method, families often ask if we know any other organizations that offer services. In addition to Princeton Review and the free resources from College Board and ACT, see below for links to a few options for organizations that offer practice test opportunities under test conditions. These organizations also offer small group and individual test prep and academic subject support. You are welcome and encouraged to explore these and any other options that you choose.
Compass Education Group - We do recommend the Compass Guide as a fantastic resource for testing information.
We look forward to being in touch and meeting with you soon! Good luck with the rest of your semester!

Warmly,

Ms. Long, Mrs. Dressler, Ms. Natov, Rabbi Rosenblum,
Rabbi Schwartz, and Ms. Kuznicki
