COLLEGE GUIDANCE

OUR MISSION & VISION

The College Guidance Department is a springboard for our students’ futures. Our mission is to educate students and families about the college admissions process, provide individualized support to all students about appropriate higher education options that suit their individual needs and goals, and work directly with students and parents as they navigate the college process.

We are committed to supporting each student’s successful transition from high school to post-secondary educational opportunities. Our team fosters an environment where students are actively supported in identifying their goals, building balanced college lists and engaging in the college application process.

We offer the community decades of professional experience in education and college admissions that allows us to provide valuable and up-to-date advice to families while fostering positive relationships with all students.

OUR PROCESS

College preparation begins in 9th grade.  Through the Shifra Hanon Pathfinders Program, students are paired with a mentor who will help them find ways to engage in extracurricular activities both inside and outside of the school community.

The focus for freshmen is on extracurricular involvement and prioritizing their academic work, specifically in the core subject areas.

The focus of sophomores continues to be on extracurricular involvement and prioritizing academic work, specifically in the core subject areas. Students will have the option to take the PSAT and discuss the role of standardized testing in the college process.  They will also work alongside their Pathfinders counselors to develop a resumé and help select their 11th grade courses.
