Elementary School Students Participate in Israel’s sixth Honor Day

November 22, 2019

Last week, the Elementary School observed Israel's 6th Honor Day, recognizing soldiers wounded in battle in Israel. The delegation, under the direction of an organization called El Ami , arrived to a warm welcome of songs and flags by our Early Childhood students. The Lower School students gave words of thanks to our soldiers for all that they do to protect Am Yisrael and Eretz Yisrael. Students in class 4-333 sang a heartwarming song to our soldiers joined by the rest of the Lower School.

Our guests then visited our Middle School students. They were greeted with cheers and songs. Dror Zicherman, who was injured in a terrorist attack while on active duty, spoke to the students about the importance of surrounding yourself with people who care about you. Roee Granitza, injured in an attack in a tank, relayed that he learned how important it is in life to appreciate the little steps. He encouraged the students to set goals, however small, for themselves, and be proud of their accomplishments. Our 8th grade student ambassadors, Bear Mountain captains, and other students helped to make this program a success.

Each soldier was presented with a special memento of their visit to the Yeshivah of Flatbush. We wish them hatzlacha in the future.
