Early Childhood Students Learn About Our Community Helpers

The past two weeks, Early Childhood students learned about the important people, such as doctors, dentists, police officers, librarians, chefs, and firefighters who work in our community. The children enjoyed presentations, read books and did crafts related to the wonderful work our community helpers do every day.

To further reinforce these lessons, students were visited by community helpers each day of the week. During the week of January 28th, students enjoyed a visit from the Brooklyn Public Library Mobile to hear a story from a librarian. On Tuesday, January 29th, firefighter George Tabeek came to educate our Nursery and Kindergarten students about fire safety. On Monday, February 4th, Pediatric Dentist Dr. Mal Azar (ES 2003, HS 2007) taught our students about proper dental hygiene, and presented them with a new toothbrush. Also on Monday, Mrs. Sylvia Fallas, a chef-educator taught the Nursery children what it means to be a chef and helped them prepare a healthy lunch. On Tuesday, YOF parent Hatzalah volunteer Danny Shatzkes (ES 1994, HS 1998) taught the students about Hatzalah and the equipment found in a Hatzalah ambulance. The students were impressed by all of our community helpers and thankful for all they do to protect and enrich our community every day.
