This past week a group of Freshman Coding/Engineering students and two faculty members traveled to Bell Works in Holmdel, NJ to join CIJE (Center for Initiatives in Jewish Education) Innovation Day. This event brought together over 1,400 students from over 40 schools to celebrate student accomplishment and creation in engineering.
After months of learning about circuits and coding, students worked in small teams to build authentic projects that solve a real world problem. Participating Freshmen were: Rebecca Dweck, who created a system that puts lights on stop signs to alert drivers when there are cars in the intersection; Nicole Muravsky, who created a device to measure the amount of light that plants receive; Marcelle Setton, who created a device to alert homeowners to basement flooding; Raymond Greenberg, who created a water saving device for the shower and Alan Shamah and Tamir Vaknin, who created a device that automatically adds pasta to the pot when the water boils.
