Fifth Grade Students in Ms. Stephanie Douek’s Class Prepare for Earth Day

April 11, 2019
Fifth grade students in Ms. Stephanie Douek’s science class have been learning about our planet and the significance of Earth Day, which will take place on April 22nd. They have researched various causes of pollution and learned about one of the largest oil disasters, the BP oil spill, which occurred in 2010.
To further their learning, they created a mock oil spill in the science lab. Students competed, using their engineering skills, to find ways to pump the oil out of the ocean and save the wildlife from being harmed. It was amazing to see see the classes work together just as real engineers would.
