JBHS Students Excel in WordWright ChallengeMarch 15, 2019

Two teams of students representing the Yeshivah of Flatbush recently won high honors in this year's WordWright Challenge, a national competition for high school students requiring close reading and analysis of many different kinds of prose and poetry. Participating with 693 school teams from all across the country, the school's ninth and eleventh graders both placed first in the nation in the year's third meet, held in February.

Students at the school who achieved outstanding individual results in the meet were freshmen Mark Antar, Jacob Lazerowitz, Ronnie Mizrahi, Nicole Murovsky, and Alan Shamah (all of whom earned perfect scores), and Jacob Cohen, Rebecca Dweck, and Marc Lessler; and juniors Brian Khaimov (who earned a perfect score), Reuven Goldstein, Hannah Lazerowitz, Stella Lessler, Esty Vizgan, Diana Gindi, Sonny Natkin, Gabby Eisner, Abie Farhi, Bonnie Melamed, Elizabeth Najar, and Mimi Sultan. The teams were coached by Shifra Hanon.
