Falcons Surprise the Rapids, but Fall in 3-set Thriller

The Flatbush JV Girls Volleyball team put a scare into the top-seeded Ma’ayanot Rapids on Tuesday night (2/19), taking the first set in the MYHSAL Semifinal contest, but the Rapids came back to take the final two sets to advance to the MYHSAL finals by a score of 2 sets to 1 on the road in Teaneck, NJ.

Head Coach Irene Eisdorfer filed this report:

“The JV Girls Volleyball semifinal playoff game was so close! Our Falcons team won the first set; every second counted with these girls, playing point by point. Ruthy Dwek started with a killer serve, putting Flatbush in the lead. Ma’ayanot came back to even the score until Trina Cayre and Adele Ayash led the rest of the team to 21:19 final score in the opening set – a Flatbush win!

In the second and third sets, our Falcons began to feel the pressure of such an intense playoff game. We did not serve as well and had a more difficult time in receiving and returning the ball. All the girls played and tried their hardest, but it was just not to be.

Overall, it was a great season filled with hard work, teamwork, and fun! I’m very happy with how the team played and the love they showed for one another. At the end of the day they had fun, so it was a successful game and a successful season!”
