LET'S CONNECT! Mentors and mentees unite on our flatbushalumni.org

Watch this short movie about using the platform for mentoring.

ALUMNI VISITS:
Mayer Kamkhatchi (HS ‘15) CEO of Adina's Jewels came in to speak to our business commission. He spoke about how he and his sister started a successful jewelry company while teaching the members of the commission what it takes to start, run and maintain a business.
Sylvia Fallas (HS ‘05) spoke to students interested in the culinary arts about her journey to becoming a private chef, caterer, and blogger. She provided them with many valuable lessons about career changes, work-life balance, and the importance of embracing every opportunity that comes your way.

Akiva Blander (HS '11) spoke about the ins and outs of being an editor of the Metropolis magazine of art and architecture. Surprisingly, he mentioned that a small part of the job is actually editing text; other parts of the job include communicating with other departments, going to shows, dealing with various writers and content, etc. He showed us how a text goes through thousands of hands until it becomes the final product in the magazine.

We are looking for alumni who are willing to share their professional stories with our students. Email us at [email protected] if you are interested in speaking.
