Senior Checklist

September

  • Make appointment with College Guidance Counselor.  Determine if applying Early Decision or Early Action.
  • Narrow your list of colleges.  Make a balanced list with advice of your counselor.
  • Note dates for fall SAT and ACT exams and if you haven’t done so yet, register
  • Create files for each college that include:
    • Application RequirementsApplication Deadlines
    • Financial aid deadline
    • Supplement essays for that college
  • Complete FAFSA and CSS Profile if required: Early Decision/Early Action applicants must file these forms by November 1st
  • Follow up with your teachers re: letters of recommendation
  • Write/revise the final draft of your essay(s)
  • Work hard to succeed in school; colleges will look carefully at your fall grades
  • Look into scholarship opportunities.  Set up an account on www.fastweb.com, www.meritaid.com and other scholarship websites.  Many scholarship applications have due dates in early fall.  
  • Check your transcript to determine accuracy.  Make up any Incompletes or Failures.

October

  • Complete and submit Early Decision/Early Action applications DUE TUESDAY, OCTOBER 7th - Before Sukkot break
  • Send SAT/ACT scores to each of your colleges
  •  Ask your counselor for Fee Waivers (and their conditions) for college applications, if applicable
  • Complete and sign TRAAC forms for each college
  • Confirm with your teachers writing your letters of recommendation
  • Review all of your application materials with your College Guidance Counselor (essay, activity sheet, application, etc.)  Submit only after approved by College Guidance Counselor

November

  • Complete any remaining applications
